Peterhead Prison Museum Christmas Light Sponsor

Buchan Offshore Wind are delighted to sponsor this year’s Christmas Lights Display at the Peterhead Prison Museum. In addition to offering a fantastic range of educational and fun experiences throughout the year, the Peterhead Prison Museum hosts an annual Christmas lights display suitable for children of all ages to enjoy.

Through helping sponsor the Christmas Lights Display, the entry cost can be kept affordable for everyone in the community, ensuring the museum can continue to deliver magical and memorable experiences to everyone over this festive period.

Last week the Buchan Offshore Wind team got an opportunity to have a sneak preview of the Christmas lights display. This year the main theme is the Polar Express, with an array of other fantastic festive lights as well, the lights opened on the 25th of November and are available to visit for five weeks.

Alasdair MacLeod, Project Director at Buchan Offshore Wind, said about the event:

“As a responsible developer it is important to us that we support local communities in the areas where we are seeking to develop our project. That is why this year we are delighted to be a sponsor of the Peterhead Prison Museum Christmas lights over the festive period. We hope everyone enjoys this fantastic light display as much as we did during our sneak preview!”

Alex Geddes, Operations Manager at Peterhead Prison Museum, said:

"As a charitable organisation set up just 6 weeks ahead of the first closure for the pandemic, we have faced three challenging years, but we now hope the future for tourism will be brighter in 2024.

Set up to safeguard the past for future generations to enjoy and learn from, we are the home to what was known as "Scotland's Toughest Jail" with many unique aspects that need to be saved including the positive part it played in the creation of the "Harbour of Refuge" which still stands and allows safe shelter to the engineering industries of today.

I sincerely thank Buchan Offshore Wind for their support in making our first ever Christmas Experience possible which sees the event fully booked throughout December and has helped to make the experience affordable to all.

The first few weekends have seen very positive feedback with many excited about what 2024 may hold for the museum visitors."
